Pending school board approval, Tom Ulses will be named Waterloo West’s baseball coach this season.
It will be an interim position as Ulses will continue to serve as West’s athletic director.
Ulses has coached at all levels of baseball from youth sports through high school. As an assistant coach at West Des Moines Dowling he was a part of three state tournament teams, including state championship squads in 1999 and 2001.
“We look forward to continuing a tradition of greatness through our baseball program,” said Andy Miehe, West High Principal. “Tom has been an asset to our school in his current capacity and he will be fantastic in his additional role as interim head baseball coach.”
He’ll replace Nate Lamphier, who resigned from the position after two seasons.
Last year the Wahawks finished 3-32.
