UPDATE: Waterloo Teen Detained After Home Shooting

A 13-year old Waterloo girl has been detained and charged with two counts of attempted murder after a shooting Wednesday afternoon at a Waterloo home. Police were dispatched to a home at 911 Leavitt St around 1:30 p.m. Police say the teen fired a handgun at a man in the home, hitting him in the face. She then tried to fire at another person, and fled before officers arrived. The victim was taken to MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center and was later flown to the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City. Waterloo Police detectives continue investigating the incident. Because she’s a juvenile, police are not releasing her name. She was later located and is being held at a juvenile center.
