Statewide Landline Phone Outage Affects Parts of Iowa

Black Hawk County, LaPorte City Officials Report Issues

Much of the state has been affected today by a statewide landline phone outage through CenturyLink/Lumen. A water line break that occurred at the Lumen Technologies building in downtown Des Moines has been identified as the cause of the statewide outage. It has affected landline calls to 911 and to statewide MercyOne hospitals, including Waterloo.  Black Hawk County officials and LaPorte City officials, who say they’ve has been experiencing issues, say to call 911 from a mobile phone if you are experiencing an emergency.
