A Cedar Falls Police officer was taken to an area hospital after being thrown from a vehicle while conducting a traffic stop late Tuesday night.  The incident happened just before midnight in the 100 block of E 4th Street. During the traffic stop, the vehicle took off at a high rate of speed taking the officer with the vehicle. The officer was eventually thrown from the vehicle and was taken to a local hospital for his injuries. He was later released.  The driver, Mackenzie Christensen, was later located, arrested and charged with 3rd offense OWI, driving while barred, eluding, and assault while participating in a felony.  Cedar Falls Public Safety was assisted by the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office, Waterloo Police and Black Hawk County Dispatch.
