Last night, many communities held their National Night Out, an annual family-friendly event. In Cedar Falls, the National Night Out event was held at the Cedar Falls Public Safety Center. Patrons had the opportunity to meet with members of Cedar Falls Police and Fire, along with UNI Department of Public Safety, and EMS personnel. Cedar Falls Police Lieutenant Gavin Carman is charge of Community Engagement.
Carman says the kids enjoy being a part of an event like this each year.
About 760 or so people, including kids, turned out for the event in Cedar Falls. In Waterloo, various neighborhoods held block parties, or cookouts, or other events into the evening.
