Petition For Waterloo Merged School Plan Verified For Nov Ballot

A petition to force a vote on consolidating Waterloo’s high schools officially has enough signatures to move forward. School officials confirmed that organizers have reached the required number of signatures to move forward with the $165 million high school consolidation project. District officials said that at the school board’s next meeting on August 26, the issue could either be put on the November ballot, or they could table the project altogether.  Waterloo Schools Superintendent Jared Smith is expected to recommend that the school board should add the measure to the November 5 ballot.
