It was another successful year for fundraising at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, as the UNI Foundation finished the last fiscal year 2023-24 at $39.9 million. Associate Vice President of University Advancement Steve Gearhart explains this run of fundraising success over the past five years.
Gearhart talks about the wide range of support for the campaign.
The comprehensive Our Tomorrow fundraising campaign continues. It originally had a goal of reaching $250 million by UNI’s 150th anniversary in 2026. In January of this year, that goal had been surpassed — 2 1/2 years early! Accordingly, the goal was then increased to $300 million. Gearhart says they’re well on their way toward exceeding THAT goal.
Scholarship support has been a part of the fundraising efforts and Gearhart says many will be able to benefit from an education at UNI.
Other plans for the monies raised through the Our Tomorrow campaign include capital improvements to the Campanile, the UNI-Dome and the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center, as well as new facilities, including a wrestling training facility and a court sports training facility.
