Getting tricky for the new year

Alright, as I mentioned today during the show, here is the NUMBER TRICK you might want to try on your friends and family tomorrow night:
1. Think of a number between 1 and 9. Don’t reveal it.
2. Multiply your number by nine.
3. Your result will be a two-digit number.
4. Add those two digits together.
5. Now subtract five from your answer.
6. Find the letter of the alphabet corresponding to your answer. (i.e. A=1, B=2, C=3, etc.)
7. Think of a country that starts with that letter.
8. Think of an animal that starts with the second letter of the country you chose.
9. What color is that animal?
There’s a 99.9% chance that you chose a grey elephant from Denmark. The answer to step 5 is always four. Four = D. The only country starting with a D that most people can think of is Denmark. Most people will then come up with elephant, and then grey for the color.
FRUITCAKE EATING RECORD IS OVER YEARS OLD _ By now you’ve tossed that fruitcake your aunt gave you for Christmas. Too bad, because you could’ve gone for the fruitcake eating world record, which hasn’t changed in 21 years. Sonya Thomas set the record on December 30, 2003, eating 4 pounds, 14¼ ounces of fruitcake in ten minutes.
CANDY CANES SOOTH THE BELLY _ Not sure what to do with all those candy canes laying around the house post-Christmas? Consider using the season’s most famous candy to treat an upset stomach or fend off germs. Studies suggest that peppermint, the primary flavoring in candy canes, boasts a plethora of health benefits — with some doctors suggesting the use of peppermint oil as the first line defense against irritable bowel syndrome.
TOILET BOWL ON JANUARY 1 _ It’s a New Year’s Day game flush with tradition — the Toilet Bowl. For decades, the small southeastern Wisconsin town of Hustisford has welcomed the new year with their version of a bowl game. It wouldn’t be much of a bowl without a parade, so the festivities include a parade through town, coronation of a Toilet Bowl king and queen, and bratwursts grilled by firefighters. Just before the strike of noon on New Year’s Day, residents arm themselves and take up positions along the sidewalk to throw toilet paper at neighbors and strangers who are in the parade. The origin of Hustisford’s New Year’s Day Toilet Bowl is a bit murky, but most remember it this way: a couple of taverns started an outdoor touch football game many years ago as a way to work out the cobwebs of New Year’s hangovers that eventually morphed into a Toilet Bowl parade.
