Inquiring minds ….

SOME GUY FIGURED OUT WHY TRISCUITS ARE CALLED TRISCUITS _ This is pretty incredible. Five years ago this week Twitter user @SageBoggs shared that he was at a party and spotted a box of Triscuits. He asked everyone what Triscuit means. Most people thought it’s based on the word biscuit — but what’s with the TRI?
… He reached out to Nabisco, which said it had no record of how the name came about.
… Then he found an old advertisement from 1900 that bragged that this new product Triscuit was “baked with electricity.”
… Electricity. There’s a TRI in there. @SageBoggs figured he cracked the case of how Triscuits got their name.
… Days after his post Nabisco confirmed that @SageBoggs was right.

THE HIDDEN COSTS OF TOO MUCH STUFF _ It’s not just the gear, the gadgets and the gizmos. It’s the bigger house, the wasted energy, and the missed opportunities that come with them. “This is the stuff that is making us poor in America.” Financial planner and author Ilyce Glink we too often buy without stopping to consider:
1. Is it necessary?
2. Can I afford it?
3. The most important: What is this new thing really costing me?
The National Association of Home Builders says the average size of a home in 1970 was 1,500 square. Today it’s over 2,700. Most people’s spending is motivated by what they see around them. For example, when a focus group was asked why people renovated their kitchens, many said it was because their friends had done it.

BEST MARRIAGES HAVE MEN LESS ATTRACTIVE THAN THE WIVES _ Research found the best marriages are those where women marry men who are less attractive than themselves. Psychologists who studied newlyweds found that men who were better-looking than their wives were likelier to be unhappy and have negative feelings about their marriage. In couples where the wife is more attractive, both partners tend to be very content.
