Happy wife … well, you know the rest

100 SMALL, NICE THINGS TO DO FOR YOUR WIFE JUST BECAUSE _ Suggestions from Fatherly.com. Here are some of the best…
• Hold her hand when walking down the street or whatever.
• Write or draw something stupid on a Post-It note. Stick it to the fridge or the door or the bathroom mirror — wherever she’s likely to see it and laugh.
• Don’t bother her when she’s reading (or on her phone).
• Go to the movie she really wants to see. If you don’t enjoy it and she did, keep it to yourself.
• Throw her robe in the dryer for a few minutes so it’s warm when she puts it on.
• Even if you’ve stream-cheated and watched ahead on that show you’re both into, don’t tell her and just enjoy the re-watch.
• Leave her a voicemail. A voicemail, not a text. Tell her you were thinking about her.
• Let her have the last piece of bacon, the last french fry, or whatever final food is there that she wants.
• Don’t say “fine” when she asks you how she looks. Tell her you love the color of her dress or what she did with her hair.

STUDY: WRITING BY HAND MAKES KIDS SMARTER _ Researchers in Norway found that kids should write by hand as much as possible. Brain activity differs when one writes by hand instead of typing — for both adults and kids. Researchers with the Norwegian University of Science and Technology strapped 250 EEG electrodes to children and had them do some handwriting. Brain waves were found to be significantly more active in participants when writing by hand. A lot of senses are activated by pressing the pen to paper, seeing the letters you write, and hearing the sound you make while writing. These sense experiences create contact between different parts of the brain and open the brain up for learning. We both learn better and remember better.
SIGNS YOU’RE TOO OLD FOR TRICK-OR-TREATING_ Every year it seems like I see a few over-40ers putting on costumes, trying to relive their childhoods by going door-to-door on Halloween with their kids. Knock it off, grandpa, ’cause Halloween is for kids. Some signs you’re probably too old to be trick-or-treating:
• You get winded from knocking on the door.
• You skip houses with stairs and only hit the ranch-style homes.
• You ask for high fiber, low-fat candy.
• When someone drops a candy bar in your bag you lose your balance and fall over.
• When the door opens you yell, “Trick or…” and can’t remember the rest.
• When kids run past you, you mutter “Where’s the fire?” under your breath.
• By the end of the night you have a bag full of restraining orders
• You’re the only Spider-Man in the neighborhood with a beer belly.
• You keep having to go home to pee.
• You keep suggesting to people that “Next year, you should give out mini bottles of wine instead.”
• Your “costume” is just your regular clothes plus a name tag.
