10 PERCENT OF AMERICAN DRINKERS CONSUME ASTOUNDING AMOUNTS OF ALCOHOL _ A recent study revealed that the top 10 percent of American drinkers guzzle down a staggering 74 alcoholic beverages per week. This equates to over four-and-a-half bottles of Jack Daniels, 18 bottles of wine, or three cases of beer in just seven days. Based on data from the National Epidemiologic Survey on Alcohol and Related Conditions (NESARC), the analysis shed a bright light on the extreme drinking habits prevalent in the U.S.  30 percent of American adults don’t drink at all. Another 30 percent consume, on average, less than one drink per week.
