DON’T STRESS ABOUT UNPLUGGING YOUR WALL CHARGERS _ There’s nothing wrong with trying to save energy and lower your power bill, but unplugging your smartphone, tablet, and laptop chargers when they aren’t charging isn’t doing much. They’re not the energy vampires some people think they are. The website How-To Geek used a device to test chargers for the iPhone, iPad, MacBook, Chromebook, Windows laptops, and Android phones. Individually, each charger rang up a big 0.0 watts of power usage. Then, just to be thorough, the website filled an entire power strip with six different chargers and got a total reading of .3 watts. Assuming you had the highest cost of electricity in the country, it would only cost you about a dollar to leave them plugged in for the entire year. And that’s assuming you never unplug them at all for travel or moving around your home over the course of the year’s 8,760 hours. Of course, when you plug a device into the charger, that’s when you begin paying more.

WE’LL ASK FOR HELP AND ADVICE MORE THAN 6,000 TIMES IN THEIR LIFE _ Adults will ask for help and advice more than 6,000 times in their life. Researchers figure that, over the course of a standard week, someone asks for help or advice twice — a total of 104 times a year, or 6,000 times in a lifetime. We go to moms for health advice and dads for financial advice. We turn to friends first for relationship advice. For cooking tips we turn to mom. For car repair and purchase advice we turn to dad. Moms provide the most parenting advice while we get more fashion advice from friends.
