WHAT PLUMBERS, CLEANERS AND OTHERS SEE IN CLIENT HOMES : Professionals who enter people’s homes (plumbers, electricians, cleaners): What is something interesting you spotted in a home you visited? What people shared on reddit:
• A mover describes a house where absolutely everything was pink except the lime‑green bedroom.
• A visiting nurse recalls an elderly patient whose house was completely filled with clocks of every kind, which he spent his days winding and tinkering with.
• A former furniture/appliance delivery worker says smoking households were the worst, describing a sofa outline on the wall where clean white paint contrasted with heavy yellow smoke staining.
• A mover shared the story walking into a nice-looking house that was stacked with boxes; after a helper asked if they had just moved in, the embarrassed owner admitted they’d lived there for 10 years.
• One commenter says the worst thing they saw was a litter box sitting on the kitchen counter.
• A former in‑home window measurer remembers an extremely filthy, cluttered house full of pets where the owner still asked visitors to remove their shoes; the commenter stepped in a puddle of urine!

DO YOU NEED TO WASH YOUR JEANS? _ How often do you wash your jeans? Should they be washed after every wear? After every five wears? Fifty wears? A decade or so ago Canadian college student Josh Le turned his own pair of jeans into a science experiment, wearing them for 15 months without washing them. He wore the jeans 330 times without washing them. If the jeans smelled, he might stick them in the freezer overnight or let them hang for a few hours. After 15 months and one week, the time came to test the jeans. He enlisted the help of his professor, Rachel McQueen. She and Le first swabbed the jeans before washing them. Then they washed the jeans and let him wear them for 13 more days, similar to a more normal amount of time between denim washes, and tested them again. McQueen said: “There did not appear to be differences in the bacterial carriage depending on whether the jeans had been worn for 15 months or only 13 days.” Also: “The bacteria present on the jeans came mostly from Le’s skin and was not harmful.”
