OPPOSITES DON’T ATTRACT _ Despite of what you may have heard, opposites actually don’t attract. A study found that despite what most people say about seeking a wider circle of friendship (say, in a large college setting, where there are a lot of different types of people available), they typically befriend only those most similar to themselves. Researchers found that students at a huge state school tended to spend time with people who were much more similar to them than students at the small, rural colleges.
IT’S A GREAT TIME FOR GOATS _ Goats are known for their ability to eat a wide variety of vegetation, including spiky and poisonous plants. This is a particularly good time of year for goats as Christmas trees are being recycled, and goats find them delicious. The Philly Goat Project will accept donated Christmas trees for $20 each to feed to the goats, as the pine needles are rich in vitamins and minerals that benefit their health. As of January, 600 trees have been donated, providing enough food to last the goats through spring.
WHAT DID YOU UNCOVER IN YOUR HOTEL ROOM? _ This reddit post is nasty and creepy. What did you uncover in your hotel room? “I am currently on night 5 of a stay at a hotel (Residence Inn) in the Midwest, and I am absolutely floored by the lack of professionalism regarding a major hygiene issue. On Sunday (my third night), I went to change my sheets. I stripped the bed down to the mattress and found a saturated, used puppy pee pad tucked under the mattress cover. (Not mattress protector.) I had unknowingly slept on top of this for two nights.” The post goes on to say that while they did get a new room, they had to track down the GM two days after because they weren’t getting a response!
