MONEY CAN BUY FUN _ A new survey asked Americans what money can actually buy and found that 85 percent of Americans believe money can buy fun, social status and political influence. Large numbers also believe money can buy career success (78 percent), good health (75 percent), physical attractiveness (72 percent) and legal immunity (71 percent). The jury was more out on happiness (63 percent “to some extent”, 35 percent “not at all”), respect (51 percent “to some extent”, 46 percent “not at all”) and inner peace (43 percent “to some extent”, 53 percent “not at all”). The “not at all” responders dominated when asked if money can buy love (55 percent not at all), talent (62 percent), intelligence (65 percent), a sense of humor (75 percent) or good morals (80 percent).

WHEN WOMEN FEEL COMFY AROUND A MAN _ It takes 7-1/2 months for a woman to feel completely comfortable around a man. And by comfortable, we mean comfortable enough to burp or go to the bathroom with her partner in the same room. Here are things women feel comfortable doing after 7-1/2 months:
• Act more ‘myself’
• Pass wind/burp
• Go to the toilet
• Wear no makeup
• Wear messy clothes
• Wear unsexy/unmatching underwear
• Pluck hairs

THE ONE THING MOST LIKELY TO DERAIL YOUR DIET _ If you’re trying to lose weight, the one thing that is most likely to derail your best diet plan is… your family and close friends. Don’t believe it? Test it. Go on a diet. Lose a few pounds. Brag a little. And then see what happens. Chances are, you’ll find you’re the recipient of fattening food gifts. Your spouse may buy you a candy bar at the movies or your co-worker will offer you cookies when the afternoon munchies hit. They aren’t doing this to be mean or vindictive. They probably aren’t even conscious of it. But what they are doing is sabotaging your weight loss success. A researcher at Johns Hopkins University said that the problem can be defined in one word: change. A diet creates big changes in anyone’s life. These are changes welcomed by the dieter, but friends and family aren’t in the same mode of change. Be aware that diet sabotage is not done purposefully and maliciously. It’s unconscious.
