A nickel’s worth of free advice:

USELESS ADVICE THAT TURNS OUT TO BE USEFUL :
• Don’t borrow trouble. You have plenty of trouble yourself, don’t go looking for more. Don’t worry about things until they happen. Don’t worry about someone else’s business. If it’s not your problem, don’t make it one. DON’T. BORROW. TROUBLE.
• If your immediate answer isn’t a ‘yes,’ then it’s a ‘no’ (or vice versa).
• The way someone treats you says everything about them and nothing about you.
• Don’t think about what it costs, think about what it will cost per use.” So, for example, spending $200 on a pair of shoes you wear 200 times is a better use of your money than spending $20 on a pair of shoes you wear twice.
• When it comes to a relationship, if it’s more work than fun it’s time to get out. Relationships will always be hard work, but we should also be able to find more happiness in them than not.
• Holding a grudge is like letting someone live inside your head rent free.
• Save 10 percent of yourself for yourself. With relationships, jobs, or even your family, it’s easy to give 100 percent of yourself to another person. It’s important that you keep some of yourself to you.
FIGHT ALLERGIES BY CHANGING CLOTHES AS YOU WALK IN THE DOOR _ For those of us who suffer from seasonal allergies, the spring and summer can be miserable. A few tweaks to your daily routine can keep the outdoors from invading your home. The blog Apartment Therapy offers up an interesting idea: change your clothes and shoes as soon as you enter your home. Leaving the clothes by the door prevents the transfer of allergens into other rooms. Don’t bring these clothes into the bedroom and put them in the hamper, either — that brings allergens into the bedroom and defeats the purpose.
WHAT WAS YOUR ‘I NEED TO LEAVE RIGHT NOW’ MOMENT ON A FIRST DATE? What the internet said:
• He told me he doesn’t have kids and doesn’t want kids when we matched online. In the middle of the date, he told me he has five kids.
• He was a pharmacist. Prior to the date, we discussed via text how I was allergic to cats and Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory drugs. Toward the end of our first date, he pulls out a sandwich bag with pills in it and says these would help with my allergies. I was like, oh, uh, thank you… and I went to put them into my purse, but he insisted I try the pills then and there to see if I had a reaction to them.
• He seemed nice and funny and smart. We went to a comedy show, and held the door open for me. I walked through and he slapped my rear so hard, I stumbled. Like it legitimately hurt. He starts laughing and I just walked right back out of the doors. Shortest date I ever went on.
• He asked if I liked history because I studied political sciences and sociology. I said yes. He then asked what I think about the WWII era and I said that, from the viewpoint of my two fields, it’s very interesting to analyze. He then proceeded to boast about his knowledge of all WWII tanks for 1.5 hours.
• In the first five minutes of the date, he told me that “music is evil”.
