Grundy Center high school football standout Trent Cakerice has announced his commitment to Iowa. He will join the team as a preferred walk-on.
The 6-foot-5, 240-pound offensive and defensive lineman was a key component for the Class A State Champion Spartans last year as a junior.
Defensively he recorded 69 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss and five sacks last season. He also returned an interception 20 yards for a touchdown.
Cakerice earned First-Team All-State honors and was named All-District Defensive MVP.
