How to live a better life

As we lean into Thanksgiving, and the holiday season as a whole, I thought instead of going the traditional route and commenting on what makes me thankful, I would pass along 20 ways to be a better and happier person. I have to admit, I love every one of these suggestions and will try my best to put as many of these suggestions into action in the days and weeks ahead.

– Compliment 3 people every day
– Watch a sunrise at least once a year
– Be the first to say “Hello”
– Live beneath your means
– Treat everyone like you want to be treated
– Never give up on anybody. Miracles happen
– Forget the Jones
– Never deprive someone of hope. It may be all they have
– Pray not for things, but for wisdom and courage
– Be tough-minded but tenderhearted
– Be kinder than necessary
– Don’t forget that a person’s greatest emotional need is to feel appreciated
– Keep your promises
– Learn to show cheerfulness, even when you don’t feel like it
– Remember that “overnight success” usually takes about 15 years
– Leave everything better than you found it
– Remember that winners do what losers don’t want to do
– When you arrive at your job, let the first thing you say brighten everyone’s day
– Don’t rain on other people’s parades
– Don’t waste an opportunity to tell someone that you love them

I am currently working on making it possible to post your holiday decorations on our Facebook page and to share those photos here on the website as well, so if you are going to be festive this Christmas, be ready to send me your photos. We could make you an internet sensation!!

Speaking of decorations, my mother was a world-class decorator. Any and all holidays were celebrated with decorations stemming from the ridiculous to the sublime. No surprise, I have caught that part of the family gene, and love to decorate with reckless abandon. Sometimes, a homemade item becomes a treasured tradition, and I wanted to post a turkey that my Great-Niece Eliza made for me several years ago. It will always have a special place in my home. Ladies and Gentlemen, I present “Gobbles the Turkey”:

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, and I will see you on the air at my regular time, 3-7pm tomorrow!
