Cedar Falls girls basketball advances to State Semifinal vs. Dowling Catholic

The Cedar Falls girls basketball team advanced to the Class 4A State Tournament Semifinals with a 71-65 win against Davenport North this afternoon.

Grace Knutson tied a State Tournament record, hitting eight three-pointers. Knutson finished with 34 points, leading the Tigers to their win. 

A Knutson 3 just before the buzzer put Cedar Falls up 30-29 at the half. With the score tied at 63 with under two minutes remaining Knutson hit a 3 to put the Tigers ahead for good and then buried a game-clinching 3 with 46 seconds left.

Karis Finley joined Knutson in double figures with 17 points. The sophomore guard also added five rebounds and six assists

Cedar Falls’ win was its 21st straight, improving its record to 23-1 overall.

The Tigers will play Dowling Catholic next in the State Tournament Semifinals on Thursday morning at 11:45. Listen to the game on Cruisin’ KCFI. Pregame coverage begins around 11:15.
