Spring forward this weekend …

Daylight saving time will begin for 2024 on Sunday, March 10 at 2 a.m. local time, when our clocks will go ahead one hour. Some folks love it, some do not, but I thought it would be educational to share this group of facts surrounding the impending time change:

HOW DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME AFFECTS YOUR HEALTH _ To compile a list of health effects daylight savings time may have on a person’s health, 24/7 Wall St. reviewed over a dozen studies on the matter.
• There is a small increase in stroke risk.
• Suicide rates increase.
• More injuries at work.
• Daytime sleepiness may become a problem.
• The risk of miscarriages may increase.
• Parents are less happy.
• Car crashes are more common.
• Sleep can be disturbed for about a week.

IF YOUR OFFICE WAS A MOVIE, WHAT KIND WOULD IT BE?  The results of a survey are interesting to say the least
• Drama (31.5%)
• Comedy (27.8%)
• Adventure (11.4%).
• Science Fiction (3.9%)
• Horror (3.8%)
• War (1.9%)

ARE YOU CREEPY? _ Let’s face it, some people are just creepy. You can’t quite put your finger on why that guy is giving you the heebie jeebies, but you know he is. Enter researchers at Knox College, who surveyed 1,341 people to try to nail down the concept of creepiness. They decided to study the concept when he realized everyone uses the word — but nobody knew quite what it meant. They asked people to rate different behaviors on a creepy scale of 1 to 5. Some things we consider creepy are clearly pretty skeezy — like wanting to talk about sex too much, for example. But some are just physical traits we may not be able to control. That “creepy” feeling is an emotional reaction when it’s unclear whether something or someone poses a threat. It is unpleasant and it registers somewhere between disgust and fear.
