UNI softball standout Emmy Wells transferring to Wisconsin

Another prominent UNI softball player is transferring.

Emmy Wells, the 2022 Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year, has announced that she’s transferring to Wisconsin.

In 2022 Wells had a standout sophomore season for the Panthers. The 6-foot-1-inch catcher was named the MVC’s Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, hitting 19 home runs and driving in 51.

She did not play in 2023 as she recovered from an elbow injury.

Wells becomes the second high profile Panther to leave the UNI softball team. Mya Dodge – this year’s Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year – announced this past weekend that she is transferring to Missouri.
