Rob's Rest Area

Some random items to share on a Friday afternoon

From today’s show: Americans planning to decorate budget an average of $384 for holiday decorations. New Hampshire residents spend the most on decorating, with an average budget of $786. On average, men spend just under $490 on holiday lights, while women spend around $292. I always wait until the week after Christmas to pick up any new decorations. I picked up a cool outdoor lighted train display last year for 60% off…score!!

Speaking of decorating for the holidays, This is the display my neighbors from across the street have…and music as well! I know when I’m beat, but it sure looks awesome, and adds to the spirit of the season here in the neighborhood.

And don’t forget to send me your photos of Christmas decorations at your home, or a favorite display in your area. I will be sure to post them in upcoming blogs. Just send the photos to rob@kcfiradio.com.

Significance of shopping local

When you shop local, you’re making a personal investment in your neighborhood and community.  In fact, for every $100 spent, roughly $68 to $73 of it returns to local activity.

Money is kept in the community because locally-owned businesses often purchase from other local businesses, service providers, and farms. Purchasing local helps grow other businesses as well as our region’s tax base.

Whether you realize it or not, when you shop local you are individually stimulating the local economy with your support and in turn, helping shape your community’s unique character and personality.
