Players from four area volleyball teams earn All-State honors

The Iowa Girls Coaches Association has released its All-State volleyball teams.

In Class 5A,

A trio of Cedar Falls Tigers players were recognized. Outside hitter Paige Paup was named to the first team. Middle blocker Grace Hannam earned second team honors and libero Annie Wedgebury was named to the third team.

In Class 2A,

Payton Petersen, Jaydn Petersen and Maryn Bixby from state champion Dike-New Hartford earned first team honors. Grundy Center’s Carlie Willis and Sumner-Fredericksburg’s Isabelle Elliot also earned first team recognition. 

Dike-New Hartford’s Diane Harms was named Class 2A’s coach of the year. 

Dike-New Hartford’s Payton Petersen was named Class 2A’s, and the state’s, player of the year.

Payton Petersen, Jaydn Peterson and Carlie Willis were named to the Elite All-State Team, which is comprised of the best players from all classes.
