Governor Reynolds Requests Presidential Disaster Proclamation

Asking for Federal Assistance from major January Snows

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds is requesting a Presidential Disaster Proclamation for 18 Iowa counties affected by the major winter storms that occurred between January 8th and 14th.  The governor’s office estimated that the snow caused more than $8 million in damage that could be covered by FEMA’s Public Assistance Program.  If approved, the 18 counties, including Black Hawk, Delaware, Linn and Johnson counties in Eastern Iowa would also get funding assistance to help recoup costs for snow removal and other emergency protective measures.
