Kids – I mentioned on the show today that I decided to take a weekend trip to Des Moines. Hadn’t been in the city in several years, so I rectified the situation. I secured a nice hotel room (Floor 11 of the Hyatt downtown) and then took in the sights. I had no agenda, just walked around downtown, drove to a few outlying areas and just generally had a relaxing time. I was pleasantly surprised at how the city has grown and is extremely modern, and dare I say…trendy? I was also pleasantly surprised to see a lot of people of all ages shopping and taking advantage of the parks and other public areas. If you are looking for a day trip or a relaxing weekend, I would recommend Des Moines. Here is a photo I took from my hotel window. I love our state capitol. To me it is simply gorgeous.

• I was here, but I fell asleep in the parking lot.
• My fake eyelashes were stuck together.
• I had morning sickness. (This from a man.)
• My coffee was too hot and I couldn’t leave until it cooled off.
